POSER

Being tolerant is the most irritating pose I know. People who consider themselves tolerant are unable to put up with only one little thing: intolerance. But isn’t intolerance something we all suffer from? Even if you think of yourself as of a tolerant person, because you’re not a homophobe and not at all a racist (how magnanimous), you probably hate the music your neighbour listens to or detest small children running around and screaming in your ear shot. In contrast, if you are courageous enough to confess your intolerance, what you can’t stand constitutes a tiny part of reality in comparison with the whole world’s intolerance abhorred by the seemingly tolerant. It seems to me that the intolerant are, in fact, more tolerant than the tolerant. And don’t correct me if I’m wrong. I’m intolerant of criticism.
